Silver River State Park is located on the eastern edge of the
town of Ocala. Centrally located, the park is about an hour’s
drive to either the west or east coast of Florida. If you are
looking for a park that is close to shopping and modern conveniences
but still offers you an opportunity to experience the "Real Florida",
Silver River is the place for you. Within three miles of the park
are several grocery stores and ten minutes east of the park is
the Ocala National Forest. Silver Springs, Florida's oldest theme
park, is five minutes from the park. Currently Silver Springs
is offering top name country music on the weekends and their world
famous glass bottom boats. Here is a list of upcoming events happening
at Silver River State Park. On Saturday, February 21st at 9 a.m.,
join an Audubon guide for a bird watching hike. If historical
events are more to your liking, then come and listen to the Florida
Cracker Village tour on Feb. 28th at 3:30 p.m. or come to Pioneer
Days on Saturday, March 13th. Pioneer Day offers visitors a chance
to see historical reenactors in period dress cooking food, weaving
crafts and providing historical accounts of what life was like
in the "piney woods" of 1800's Florida. The event is all day long
and free of charge to campers and day use visitors.
Whether you prefer camping or staying in one of our modern cabins,
come up and enjoy this part of north central Florida. Vehicle
entrance is $4.00 per vehicle and all events are free to campers
and day use visitors. For additional information contact the park
at (352) 236-7148.
