The Nassau Sound Fishing Bridge provides fishermen access to
one of the best fishing areas in northeast Florida. The park’s
mile long fishing bridge spans Nassau Sound. Entrance to the fishing
bridge is through the entrance to Amelia Island State Park. Whiting,
jacks, drum, and tarpon are some of the many species that can
be caught from the bridge. Redfish and speckled sea trout are
in the sound year round, with high numbers caught in the spring
and fall. Mullet, live or dead shrimp, or fiddlers can be used
for bait. Both mullet and shrimp can be caught with a cast net
along the shore of Amelia Island State Park. Jigs and artificial
baits can also be effective in landing that big fish. Towards
the end of the fishing bridge there are several small grass flats
that hold a variety of fish. The fall mullet run brings in the
tarpon, which prey on the mullet before their voyage down to more
southern waters.
Nassau Sound Bait and Tackle is open at the north end of the
Nassau Sound fishing bridge. This concession is open year-round
from sunrise to sunset and offers just about everything you’ll
need for a day of fishing.
Nassau Sound Bait and Tackle offers a variety of live and dead
bait, tackle, weights, floats, and lures. Rental rods and reels
are also available. And for your convenience, they sell an assortment
of snacks, drinks, and sandwiches.
Hours of Operation
The Nassau Sound Fishing Bridge is open twenty-four hours a day,
365 days a year.
