Message from the Manager

The Bald Eagles, Roseate Spoonbills, Dolphin and Manatees are seen this time of year; This weekend 7 manatees and a newborn were seen in the canal near the ranger station. I recommend that you bring your binoculars and camera. Starting Saturday March 27 our new concession will offer canoe and kayak rental, food, sunscreen and beach supplies. Canoeing or kayaking the pristine back bay waters, is an experience I am sure you will enjoy. The butterfly garden has been improved with new plants and a quiet seated viewing area, the activity there is spectacular!

Explore the park and join park staff on one of the informative naturalist programs. Upcoming programs include a Cast netting program on Thursday March 25 at 10am, Cast netting on Thursday April 1 at 10am, Black Island Bike Tour on Friday April 2, at 10am, Beginning Fishing Clinic on Thursday April 8 at 10am. Reservations are required as space is limited. Call the park for more information on all of these upcoming programs. See you at the park real soon!

Made up of Black Island, Lovers Key, Inner and Long Key, this 1616-acre area features canals and tidal lagoons fringed with mangroves, which support an array of fish and other aquatic animals.

Although the park has been disturbed in the past by dredge and fill activities and the invasion of non-native plants, today the area provides habitat for numerous animals.

Hours of Operation

Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days a year.

Driving Directions

Lovers Key is located at 8700 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. The park boundaries are Big Carlos Pass and New Pass. We are 10.5 miles west of I75 on exit 116.

Admission Fees - $4.00 per vehicle for up to 8 people.
Single occupancy vehicle - $2.00
Pedestrians, Bicyclists, Extra Passengers, Passengers In Vehicles With Holder of Annual Individual Entrance Permit, Members of Organized Groups - Admission Fee $1.00
