Message from the Manager
Little Talbot Island State Park is centrally located in the
Talbot Islands State Parks chain of barrier islands. It is home
to the park's Ranger Station, where you can find maps of the area,
wildlife mounts, brochures, and a knowledgeable and friendly staff.
The cooler weather brings numerous opportunities to get out and
explore the REAL Florida! Among the many natural treasurers of
Talbot Islands State Parks are miles of hiking trails, shell-covered
beaches, and a 40-site campground.
Bob Joseph, Park Manager
Located twenty miles from downtown Jacksonville, Florida, Little
Talbot Island is one of the few remaining undeveloped, barrier
islands in Northeast Florida. The entire island - 2,500 acres
- is a State Park.
The park has more than five miles of beautiful, white sandy beaches,
undisturbed salt marshes, and vegetated dunes. Maritime forests,
desert-like dunes, and the salt marshes on the western side of
the island allow endless hours of nature study and relaxation.
