Come visit the island that plays seasonal host to many of the
nations' most prominent fishermen as well as some of the most
prominent families in the country. They come to fish for tarpon
in Boca Grande pass, which separates Gasparilla Island and Cayo
Costa Island. Each spring thousands of these giant fish, known
also as "silver kings" migrate into the deep water pass, which
today is known famously as the "Tarpon Capital of the World" and
the home of the World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament each year in
July.
Located in the park is the Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum. Also
located in the Lighthouse Parking Area is the restored Amory Memorial
Chapel. This chapel was built in the 1950s and served the residents
of the dormitories that were located in what is now the Dunes
Parking Area. The chapel is available to rent for public and private
events.
