Message from the Manager

Ft George Island Cultural State Park is home to the newly reopened Ribault Club. The Club was originally constructed in 1928, suffered through the Depression, and was eventually boarded up in the 1990's. Thanks to funding through Historic Preservation Grants, the Florida Park Service, the City of Jacksonville, and the National Park Service, the building was renovated and now serves as a Visitors Center and Gateway to the Timucuan Trail State and National Parks.

The Ribault Club has Grand Rooms available for private functions, for more information call The Ribault Club at 904-251-1050. The Visitor Center includes interactive interpretive exhibits exploring the history of the area. The Club is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, for more information call 904-251-2802.

The cooler weather brings numerous opportunities to get out and explore the REAL Florida! Among the many natural treasurers of Talbot Islands State Parks are miles of hiking trails, shell-covered beaches, and a 40-site campground.

Whether you walk, bike, or drive on Fort George Island, you will find yourself surrounded by lush vegetation. Hidden by this green mantle is evidence of 6000 years of human occupation; ranging from shell mounds, through plantation era structures, to a 1920's resort club. The history of Ft. George Island is a cross section of Florida's history.

We are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days a year.

Driving Directions

Fort George Island Cultural State Park lies approximately 16 miles east of downtown Jacksonville on S.R. A1A, or three miles south of Little Talbot Island State Park.

There is not an entrance fee for this park.
