Message from the Manager
Camellias are blooming in the Dudley farmhouse yard and our Cracker
cows have begun calving in the west field. In the winter season,
the farmstead has an open quality, with the leaves shed from the
large heirloom pecan trees. Woodstove cooking adds a new dimension
to the restored 1880s kitchen as oak wood smoke curls out the
brick chimney and collard greens simmer on the stovetop. Winter
is a good time for historic building and rail fence repairs. Come
enjoy the changing seasons at this original Florida pioneer farmstead.
Eighteen historic structures make up an authentic (not recreated)
farm complex. In 1983, Myrtle Dudley donated her family farm to
the Florida Park Service. Today, Dudley Farm presents a living
history working farm encompassing 325 of the Dudley’s original
640 acres.
