Message from the Manager
This year why not resolve to do something that is enjoyable,
healthy and fun. Please join me in resolving to visit more Florida
State Parks and more often. Generally, Florida State Parks are
managed to be a local representation of what Florida looked like
before modern man began to make alterations. I have often heard
park guests speak of the regenerative powers of nature and especially
in state parks. Some say when they visit a park it's like a weight
is lifted from their shoulders. Many families spend the holidays
in state parks. Parents are able to relax and kids can be kids.
They plan and prepare meals together. They sit around the campfire,
hike, bike and canoe together.
One of my goals as park manager is to have Collier-Seminole State
Park fully integrated into the local community and the minds of
the local residents. When residents from Everglades City, Goodland,
Immokalee, Marco Island, Naples and Fort Myers have visitors from
out-of-town, those visitors are brought to the park because of
its' intrinsic beauty and value. When a tourist asks a resident
"what is there to do around here?" I like the answer to be "you
must visit Collier-Seminole State Park."
Joe Howard – Park Manager
In the early 1940's Barron Collier, a wealthy advertising entrepreneur
and pioneer developer, made plans to design a park. By 1947, the
land Collier had chosen was turned over to the state of Florida
for management as a state park. Named in part for Collier and
for the Seminole Indians who had made the area their home, Collier-Seminole
State Park was opened to the public.
Hours of Operation
Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days
a year.

past CR 92.
