Message from the Manager
Restoration of the overgrown scrub habitat continues at the Reserve.
Over 80 acres of overgrown scrub has been cut using heavy equipment.
This area and other sections of the Reserve will receive prescribed
fire this winter and spring. Improvement of this habitat will
benefit all the plants and animals who reside in and around the
reserve boundaries. In cooperation with the University of Florida,
research into the effects of these management practices on the
plants and animals will be conducted in conjunction with the prescribed
fire. Information gained from this effort will assist in making
future decisions for the management of Cedar Key Scrub State Reserve.
Cedar Key Scrub State Reserve is a joint managed area located

the Division of Recreation and Parks, Florida Fish and Wildlife
