Message from the Manager
Beach access from the Bluffs picnic area is currently closed.
Big Talbot Island State Park offers one of the most unique beaches
in Florida. From The Bluffs picnic area you can look down 30 feet
to a narrow beach lined with driftwood and dead trees.
Located between Big Talbot Island and Little Talbot Island is
Long Island Outfitters, a canoe/kayak concession operated by Kayak
Amelia. They offer rentals and guided paddles, and the shop offers
earth-friendly gifts.
The cooler weather brings numerous opportunities to get out and
explore the REAL Florida! Among the many natural treasurers of
Talbot Islands State Parks are miles of hiking trails, shell-covered
beaches, and a 40-site campground.
Bob Joseph, Park Manager
One of only a few undeveloped sea islands left along the Atlantic
coast, this park offers a unique view into Florida’s pre-European
past. Walk down any of Big Talbot’s nature trails and you may
catch a glimpse of some Northeast Florida wildlife in its undisturbed
habitat. The dynamic shoreline offers a stunning seascape vista
of the Atlantic Ocean and Nassau Sound. The park offers recreational
areas for picnicing, boating, or hiking. Migrating birds along
with birds of prey like the Red Shoulder Hawk, Great Horned Owl,
and an occasional Bald Eagle frequent the island. On Big Talbot
Island one can always find a premier spot to enjoy nature study,
bird watching, or photography.
Hours of Operation
Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days
a year. Boat ramp area is open 24 hours a day.
